Meet the Smarter Toddler Family
We plan to continue raising the bar of future childcare provision by challenging complacency and pioneering a forward thinking approach today and every day. One way we will achieve this is to continue making significant investment in our staff by supporting their training and ongoing professional development.
Smarter Toddler’s success to date can be attributed to the dedication of our staff and their leadership. How this manifests day-to-day is in the excellent relationships that our staff members have had with the children and their families.
Alinda Etienne | Infant Classroom Assistant Teacher, Financial District
Hello! I am excited to join Smarter Toddler as the assistant teacher in the Infant Classroom. I have over 8 years of teaching experience as an infant and young toddler teacher and I am excited to contribute my passion for working with young children to the Infant classroom at Smarter Toddler. I hold an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and will pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in the Spring of 2017. Teaching has always been a dream of mine, and I am so happy that it has come true! I would love to utilize my skills to become a lead teacher in the Infant and Toddler Program.
I hope to instill a love of art and creativity in all the children I work with, and am inspired by their fascination and curiosity of the world around them. I enjoy creating art with my son, Mac and offering sensory related experiences.
I am so proud to be a part of the Smarter Toddler family! Children are our future and I look forward to helping each and every child reach their full potential. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
Maria Rodriguez | Infant Classroom Lead Teacher, Financial District
Hola! I am ecstatic to be the Infant Teacher at Smarter Toddler in the Financial District! I have over eight years of experience working with infants and toddlers students. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Rutgers and am working towards a Master’s Degree and NYS teaching certification in Early Childhood Education. My goal is to inspire a lifelong love for art and learning in children.
When I am not teaching I enjoy traveling abroad. My favorite country to travel is Spain. I love the beautiful architecture, food and culture. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am an animal lover and love both cats and dogs. I love to watch the seasons change and enjoy the cool crispness of the fall and the beautiful snow fall of the winter.
I look forward to working with the infants and helping them to meet developmental milestones. I am very excited to be a part of the Smarter Toddler community.
Sheila Robinson | Young Toddler Classroom Lead Teacher, Financial District
Hola! I am happy to be the Young Toddler Lead Teacher in the Financial District! In 2014, I received my Liberal Arts Degree in Spanish Literature and Education from Brooklyn College, and am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education in Spanish Literature. My previous experience has helped me to learn about child development and to differentiate instruction so that all learners are successful. I believe strongly in creating family partnerships and in collaboration.
During my free time I enjoy engaging in outdoor activities: hiking, sightseeing and traveling and learning more about different cultures around the world. I enjoy learning and seek to enhance my pedagogical skills in participating in educational forums and discussions. Both traveling and reading enhance my creativity and hands-on concepts in the classroom. I believe in empowering children every day through the power of love, creativity and innovation.
